Use love’s power to end oppression and biases; maintain a commitment to LGBTQ community and raise awareness of economic inequality; facilitate a timely response when situations call for united UU actions.

LGBTQ Awareness

In 2001 we became recognized as a “Welcoming Congregation” by the UUA (Unitarian Universalist Association). As such, we have publicly committed and are proud to extend a warm welcome to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) individuals, families, and communities. We work to promote acceptance, inclusion, understanding, and equity for LGBTQ persons of all ages, abilities, colors, and genders, both within our denomination and in society at large. We are committed to protecting the civil and legal rights of LGBTQ people and families across the country.

Class Awareness

Classism and economic inequality are threats to the American dream, and, as an organization, we are committed to awareness of class issues both within and outside the Unitarian Universalist congregation. For too long, Unitarian Universalism and society at large have chosen to ignore class issues. It is a very positive sign that we are, at least, recognizing that these issues are not going away and that they must be addressed if we are to become the beloved community where everyone is valued and recognized.

Rapid Response Team

Our Rapid Response Team may be called upon to show support in several different areas that include, but are not limited to, criminal justice, international human rights, immigration, civil liberties, reproductive rights, housing, and LGBTQ issues. As liberal religious people, we have a special interest in people whose religious rights are violated.
