Community outreach and service are fundamental to our congregation’s mission, involving a range of organizations and volunteer opportunities that our members actively organize and support. We collaborate with local shelters, food banks, and social service organizations to address immediate needs such as hunger and homelessness. Our members advocate for social justice by engaging in local advocacy efforts, attending rallies and meetings, and working with organizations that promote equity and human rights. These volunteer opportunities not only address critical community needs but also strengthen our bonds with one another and with the broader community, reflecting our commitment to service and justice. By continually seeking out and participating in these various forms of outreach, our congregation demonstrates the power of collective action and the impact of compassionate service. This ongoing practice of generosity not only supports the immediate needs of these organizations but also fosters long-term relationships built on trust and mutual respect.
We live our values by generously giving our time, treasure, and resources to various organizations and through the consistent support of our Monthly Justice Partner. Each month, we select a justice partner whose mission aligns with our commitment to social justice, equity, and compassion, dedicating our resources to support their initiatives. This partnership might involve direct financial contributions from our congregation, volunteer efforts, or the donation of goods and services. First UU members volunteer their time to participate in events, raise awareness, and engage in hands-on projects. Financial contributions from our members help sustain these organizations, enabling them to continue their critical work. Through our dedicated support, we live our values in real, impactful ways, making a difference in people’s lives and the health of our community as a whole. Donate HERE.
