The Walden Hill Vocal Ensemble performs excerpts from Craig Hella Johnson’s Considering Matthew Shepard. Johnson composed this work in response to the 1998 kidnapping, beating, and death of a 21-year-old gay man whose name was Matthew Shepard.

Rev. Brian Mason, the son of missionaries, factory workers, and caregivers grew up in Missouri’s Mississippi River Valley. After three years working as a chaplain at Saint Louis University Hospital, he was called to serve the First Universalist Unitarian Church of Wausau WI where he’s been since 2017. He and his wife of 13 years live in Wausau with their offspring and a dog.

From Eau Claire, WI Jerrika Mighelle (she/they) has been performing since her first gig in 2004 with her sisters in their band QuinnElizabeth. Jerrika is a proud non-binary, queer Americana artist who has released three studio albums. Their lastest record Be Brave was released in July of 2023 and is streaming everywhere. Jerrika is also currently working on their Masters of Human Rights degree at the University of MN.
