Description
First UU acquired these beautiful blue chairs in 1971. We still use them in this Sanctuary (the auditorium as it was called – back then).
These chairs have played a very big part of our church home, but they have served for a very long time. They are very tired and are ready to retire. As much as we’d like to take them with us, it is too expensive to store them as they don’t stack and they would take up too much valuable storage space and end up costing us more to store than to buy used (think Mayo chairs at around $7-$10 each). So now is your chance to own your very own piece of Walden Lane history. For just $10, you can buy your very own blue chair!
“But what will we sit on while we are still in this building” you may be asking yourself. Well, because we really don’t want to replay 1968-1970, we will need to ‘borrow’ the chairs back from you (the new owners) until our last service in this building. After that last service, you will be able to choose your chair that you purchase today, and take it home with you. You will also have a few days after the last service to get your chair.
However, if we are unable to find chairs to purchase, we may need to ‘borrow’ them back. So make sure you take really good care of these chairs for at least the next 18 months or so. We will let you know if we are able to purchase 200 or more chairs before we move into our new space.
