Monday, January 30 – Community Food Response (CFR)
Shifts 1:30-4:00 pm and 4:35-6:40 pm / Bethel Lutheran Church
Since September 2001, our congregation has been a cooperating church among 17-20 other groups that assist at least one day a month with sorting and distribution of excess food from hospitals, restaurants, businesses and grocery stores for the Community Food Response (CFR) program hosted by Bethel Lutheran Church.
Last year, CFR collected 96 tons of food and an average of 68 families was served every Monday, Wednesday or Friday. Our church helps any time there is a 5th Monday, Wednesday or Friday by picking up the food, sorting the food and giving out the food to families and individuals that come to Bethel to pick it up.
The CFR food and distribution center is in the lower level kitchen of Bethel Lutheran Church (810-3rd Ave. SE). The sorting period is 1:30-4:00 pm (the opener comes about 12:45 pm) and the distribution period is 4:35-6:40 pm. (The closer preferably arrives about 4 pm and stays until all is cleaned up, around 7 pm). The closer helps determine what can be given out and oversees the distribution process, such as keeping trays full. Look forward to hearing from you.
Next dates: Wednesday, March 29 & Friday, March 31
