Progressive Church Seeks Social Justice Coordinator

JOB TITLE: Social Justice Coordinator
HOURS: .125 FTE (5 hours/week; combination in-person and remote)
Hours include 2-3 Sunday mornings per month, and flexible hours for weekday meetings, events, or programs. Specific times coordinated with the Minister.
SALARY & BENEFITS: $5,625 annual salary
REPORTS TO: Minister
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with the Minister and Social Justice Shared Ministry Team to engage the congregation in meaningful action and reflection in social justice work within and beyond the church.
- Support small groups within the congregation in their reflection and
- Create regular opportunities for engagement, which may include hosting a Sunday information table, presenting forums, curating a justice calendar, organizing action/protest involvement.
NECESSARY SKILLS:
- Commitment to Unitarian Universalist values of justice work, including these areas:
- Disability & Accessibility, Anti-Racism and Multiculturalism, LGBTQIA+ Welcome and Inclusion, Dismantling White Supremacy, and Environmental, Immigration, Economic, and Reproductive
- Ability to collaborate with staff, lay leaders, and many committees/groups working on justice issues at various levels of involvement and stages of learning.
- Preferred skills: spiritually grounded reflection on justice work, community organizing, political and policy-related advocacy, direct action experience and training.
