Promoting democracy and electoral justice is a vital part of our social justice efforts, and we significantly advance and promote through active memberships with ISAIAH and MUUSJA.

By partnering with ISAIAH, we can participate in a broad range of initiatives aimed at racial and economic justice, including voter registration drives and educational workshops that inform our community about the importance of voting and how to effectively engage in the electoral process.

MUUSJA – Minnesota Unitarian Universalist Social Justice Alliance is a social justice group that connects UUs from across Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota and allied communities to shape a just and loving world. First UU is a member organization of MUUSJA. Currently, we are supporting the UU the Vote campaign through leadership at MUUSJA. We are well on the way to becoming a Good Trouble Congregation.
Collaborating with MUUSJA allows us to join forces with other Unitarian Universalists in Minnesota, amplifying our efforts to address social justice issues and ensure that every voice is heard in our democracy.

Additionally, it’s essential to keep our congregation well-informed and actively involved in broader Unitarian Universalist social justice efforts. We educate and update our members about the UUA Social Justice campaign, Side With Love, which focuses on combating oppression through the power of love. This can involve sharing information about campaign activities, organizing themed services, and encouraging participation in various advocacy efforts.

Furthermore, we connect with the Unitarian Universalists for Social Justice (UUSJ) and their work nationally on social justice issues and actions. Through UUSJ newsletters, action alerts, and providing resources for members to get involved, we keep our congregation engaged and empowered to make a difference.

Stay up-to-date on UU happenings in the region through the MidAmerica Messenger – where UUs visibly live our faith, create connections, grow our membership, and welcome all persons who share our UU values.
